UOP Boosts Natural Gas Production
 in Qadirpur, Pakistan

The Oil and Gas Development Co.(OGDC;Islamabad, Pakistan; www.privatisation.gov.pk/oilgas/ogdc.htm) has successfully started up a natural gas (NG) membrane plant in Qadirpur, Pakistan, that increases NG production capacity from 235 million
ft3/d to 400 million ft3/d. The plant features a gas pre-treatment system designed and built by UOP LLC (Des Plaines, IL; www.uop.com) for the removal of CO2 and H2S,and for the recovery of hydrocarbons. UOP's system uses a chiller, a MemGuard membrane, and a Separex membrane system with cellulose acetate plus (CAP) technology. UOP has also delivered two new membrane skids that will enable OGDC to increase NG production capacity to 500 million ft3/d later this year.
